Michael T. Beason

Personal History

Mr. Beason was born and raised in Dallas, Texas, where he graduated from a private parochial high school. Prior to entering law school Mr. Beason had a career as a claims adjuster for two large and nationally recognized insurance companies. After working in the private sector for a time Mr. Beason entered Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law as a merit scholar.

Undergraduate Education

Michael attended Christian Brothers University (CBU) in Memphis, Tennessee where he was a summa cum laude honors graduate receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in the study of Business Administration.

Extracurricular Activities

During college Michael was a member of Delta Sigma Pi, a business fraternity, and proudly served as a Vice-President for the organization.

Mr. Beason is a former President of the Jackson County Bar Association.

Mr. Beason is a member in “good standing” of the Oklahoma Bar Association.

Community Involvement

Mr. Beason is a former city councilman for the City of Altus where he was integral in writing and delivering a grant for emergency drought relief funds. Under this grant the City of Altus received in excess of $500,000.00 for drought relief which has been applied to construction of a water pipeline to serve the City of Altus. The grant is believed to be the first written under the relatively new law.

Mr. Beason has served as a member of the Finance Committee for First United Methodist Church.

Mr. Beason has also served as a board member and past president of Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA).

Graduate Education

Michael Beason is a proud recipient of a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from the Dedman School of Law at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.

Legal Experience

Mr. Beason is admitted to practice law in the State of Oklahoma and in the United States District Court, the Western District of Oklahoma.

Mr. Beason is a former Assistant District Attorney for Oklahoma Judicial District III, serving primarily in Kiowa County, Oklahoma. Mr. Beason was afforded numerous trials as a prosecutor, including but not limited to, trials involving: (a) murder, (b) shooting with intent to kill, (c) child abuse/child neglect, (d) manufacture of methamphetamine, and (e) distribution of a controlled dangerous substance.

Mr. Beason entered private practice in 2003 with the opening of the Beason Law Firm, P.L.L.C. He currently serves clients in a variety of cases in the areas of bankruptcy law, appellate law, family law, adoption, guardianship, dissolution/divorce, business formation, criminal defense, civil litigation and criminal defense litigation, wills, trusts and probate.

Mr. Beason is a gifted legal writer and is also equally blessed with litigation skills. He enjoys litigation in contested cases at the trial level and he also enjoys appellate practice.
